eating disorder recovery is facilitated by connection.
Traditional therapy looks at an individual's struggles as just that: one person suffering alone. This perspective fails to look at the micro and macro systems at play in both sickness and health. Our therapeutic framework at The Source is rooted in collectivism and community - we know that healing doesn't happen in isolation, that connection and belonging are critical pieces of recovery.
In addition to our specialized gender affirming care methodologies, we utilize various evidence based practices to support our clients such as PRIDE CBT-E, DBT, RO DBT, ACT, MI, and humanistic therapy to target eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. Eating disorders rarely present in isolation and other mental health disorders often need to be targeted to promote recovery, including trauma, depression, anxiety, and OCD to name a few. To ensure that our clients receive both research backed and individualized care, we offer other therapeutic interventions like EMDR and CPT depending on clinical need. Our balance of evidence based individual and group therapies paired with a focus on building connections in community will give our clients a safe and sacred space to heal.
We get you. we’ve been there, ourselves.
Transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex people simultaneously are disproportionately impacted by eating disorders and frequently experience iatrogenic harm in run-of-the-mill treatment environments. Providers often do not engage in the level of professional development and culturally attuned learning needed to provide identity-first care. The Source operates from a locus of professional and lived experiences, offering a nuanced understanding of how to support residents with multiply marginalized identities. We understand that individual suffering is exacerbated by a society that enforces systems of oppression, social inequities, and purposefully others marginalized communities. We approach eating disorder care from a perspective of both realism and resilience. We know that the power has always been in the people's movement, and we harness this politic to draw on community resistance.

your identities matter.
We understand that traditional treatment models are often designed by centering thin, white, adolescent, cisgender women and girls. While several common interventions have been shown to be effective can overlook the unique experiences and needs of transgender and intersex people. We offer a compassionate, inclusive environment where every individual’s gender identity is respected and integrated into their treatment plan, facilitated by behavioral health care providers with shared identities.
